This contemporary Maori Art Print is titled, "Hine-aahua Évora Cedrick." The portrait celebrates the diverse heritage of many Maori.
Hine-aahua is a young female that proudly wears her familial Moko Kauae on her chin, it is a powerful representation of her Maoritanga. The greenstone earrings, passed down from her grandmother, are a treasured pounamu and respresent mana.
Her Victorian clothing & the Pearl broach is a nod to her English heritage and she is one in a long line of the Cedrick family with a colourful British history.
The deep red in her attire subtly alerts to her Portuguese background which is further signified by her middle name, "Évora," a beautiful town in the South of Portugal.
Hine-aahua's medium tone complexsion and hazel eyes are attributed to her mixed geneology.
She is the first family member from the Cedrick Whanau to be released, her Tungaane (brother) will be the second portrait release.
